The ASA/UKCC certificates have 3 levels and are split into a number of aquatics disciplines:
 
• Teaching Aquatics (formerly teaching swimming)
• Coaching Swimming
• Coaching Water Polo
• Coaching Diving
• Coaching Synchronised Swimming

Survive and Save Training currently deliver courses and programmes of learning leading to Level 1 and 2 Certificates in Teaching Aquatics and Coaching Swimming.  All courses are on the QCF and are recognised at Level 1 and 2 respectively.

Our training packages include full course materials including a note book, company pen, course textbooks (including National Plan parents guide). In addition, at level 2 – we offer an optional (but free!) 1:1 coaching session to assist candidates with their future swimming development.

LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATES


Why the ASA/QCF Level 1 course?

This introduces you to the world of teaching and coaching. It will help develop your skills in communication, organisation, planning and confidence. You will gain a nationally recognised qualification by the industry.

What is the Level 1?

This qualification is for assisting or supporting teaching / coaching swimming. It is recognised across the country and enables you to support teaching or coaching to a small group of participants.

How does it work?

There are 7 units involving normally attending a course covering a mixture of theory and pool practical sessions. You will cover topics from communication to planning teaching non swimmers to coaching competitive swimmers depending on the qualification you are taking. The assessment is 100% coursework based and NO EXAMS! The methods of assessment may include completion of worksheets, discussion, role plays, questioning, planning lessons and of cause pool practical teaching and coaching!

LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATES

Why the ASA/QCF Level 2 course?

This fully equips the holder with the skills needed to teach and coach swimmers. It will further develop your skills in communication, organisation, planning and confidence. You will gain a nationally recognised qualification by the industry.

What is the Level 2?

This qualification is for teaching / coaching swimming. It is recognised across the country and enables you to plan, teach or coach and evaluate sessions to groups of participants of varying abilities.

How does it work?

There are 8 units involving normally attending a course covering a mixture of theory and pool practical sessions. You will cover topics from communication to planning and evaluating, teaching non swimmers to coaching competitive swimmers depending on the qualification you are taking. The assessment is 100% coursework based and NO EXAMS! The methods of assessment may include completion of worksheets, discussion, role plays, questioning, planning lessons and of cause pool practical teaching and coaching!

Why the personalised route?


  • It’s for candidates with practical teaching/coaching experience who wish to obtain a qualification that leads to the ASA/QCF qualifications.
  • It’s for candidates who are not able to attend a course, and would like to fit the training in around their work and home life and their teaching /coaching commitments.
  • It is even suitable for those of you who hold an ‘old’ ASA teaching or coaching qualification and would like to update it.

It’s not suitable for those with no or limited teaching/coaching experience. They are recommended to complete the full course.

What is the personalised route?

  • It is an accelerated teaching programme to enable students to obtain the ASA/QCF Level 1 and/or Level 2 certificates for teaching aquatics and/or coaching swimming.
  • This is achieved through a combination of distance or blended learning, without necessarily having to attend face-to-face training sessions.
  • Training can be completed mostly at home and in your workplace.
  • Our lead tutor, Ray Lau, personally oversees each student’s programme. He ensures that only suitably qualified and the highest quality tutors and assessors are appointed, to support, guide, and coach/mentor each candidate through the process.
